Summary: This is "a striking fungus that forms beautiful coremia on a number of different insects" (Beug(3)). A coremium is a type of structure that produces conidia (asexual spores). The teleomorph is unknown but according to Dictionary of the Fungi, 10th Edition, the anamorphic genus is associated with the Cordycipitaceae.
Microscopic: The conidia are 1-2.5 x 1-1.5 microns, oval to nearly round, and colorless (Beug).
